Top Tuesday: Top 5 Releases for May

This month and June have been a bit crazy with tons of books changing publication dates. That being said there are still some really great reads that came out this month. Check out my personal Top 5 books to look out for this month, and best of all, a lot of them are already out!

1. Dark Skies (Dark Shores #2) by Danielle L. Jensen – May 5th

Dark Skies (Dark Shores, #2)I highly recommend this series and author.

You can check out my reviews for both book 1 Dark Shores and book 2 Dark Skies. It is said that they can be read either one first since the events run concurrent but I felt it worked out better to go with publication date and read Dark Shores first, since there were some spoilers I felt at the end of Dark Skies.

Blurb:

A RUNAWAY WITH A HIDDEN PAST

A COMMANDER IN DISGRACE

A KINGDOM UNDER SIEGE

2. Aurora Burning (The Aurora Cycle #2) by Amie Kaufman  and Jay Kristoff – May 5th

Aurora Burning (The Aurora Cycle #2)

I have heard so many amazing things about this book… and also to be prepared with your tissues. After reading The Illuminae Files I will forever have Amie and Jay as auto buy authors.

Blurb: Our heroes are back kind of. From the bestselling co-authors of the Illuminae Files comes the second book in the epic series about a squad of misfits, losers, and discipline cases who just might be the galaxys best hope for survival.

3. The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (The Hunger Games #0) by  Suzanne Collins –  May 19th

HUNGER GAMES PREQUEL… enough said I have to have it! The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (The Hunger Games, #0)

Synopsis: It is the morning of the reaping that will kick off the 10th annual Hunger Games. In the Capitol, 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow is preparing for his one shot at glory as a mentor in the Games. The once-mighty house of Snow has fallen on hard times, its fate hanging on the slender chance that Coriolanus will be able to out charm, outwit, and outmaneuver his fellow students to mentor the winning tribute.

The odds are against him. He’s been given the humiliating assignment of mentoring the female tribute from District 12, the lowest of the low. Their fates are now completely intertwined – every choice Coriolanus makes could lead to favor or failure, triumph or ruin. Inside the arena, it will be a fight to the death. Outside the arena, Coriolanus starts to feel for his doomed tribute… and must weigh his need to follow the rules against his desire to survive no matter what it takes.

StoryboundI had a chance to read an Advanced copy of Storybound and I just loved it! Its like a little love letter to book worms and I highly recommend for anyone who wants a cute, fast paced YA Fantasy read. Check out my spoiler free review here.

I’ve lived in nine towns in the past six years. I know my mom feels bad about it, but I don’t mind. Who wants friends anyway?
All I’ve ever needed are my books. I’ve lived a thousand lives, had adventures I couldn’t even begin to imagine. To me, the places I discovered between the pages of a book are as real as the world I live in.
When I walk into my favorite bookstore, the last thing I expect is to walk out onto the pages of the kingdom of Mithres…or that the book boyfriend I’ve loved more than life, Kane the Traveler, really exists. And he has no clue the fate that awaits him in book five…
Now that I know the truth, I have a chance to save Kane. But if I change the story, will I ever find my way home?

5. Dangerous Remedy (Dangerous Remedy 1) by Kat Dunn – May 5th Dangerous Remedy (Dangerous Remedy, #1)

I received the gorgeous book in the April (received in May due to shipping delays) Illumicrate and it sounds so good I cannot wait to dive in.

As the Battalion des Mortes they cheat death, saving those about to meet a bloody end at the blade of Madame La Guillotine. But their latest rescue is not what she seems.
